Ode to my bunny

Bunny - I miss you. I miss your little belly. I miss your cute little ear.

I miss having you here when I come home from work, wiggling and headed to the treaty drawer.

Gimme.
I miss your listening.

I'm listening.

I miss taking you for walks and watching you take control and walk me, haughty and purposeful, down the sidewalk.

Come on, already.

I miss our outdoor adventures.

At Fort Funston

In Golden Gate Park.

On Strawberry Hill (a chicken - hot DAMN)

In the field (a gopher - this is my lucky day).

I miss seeing your utter joy around water, my little Portuguese Water dog:

"Oh, please - PLEASE - let me get in. I know its green and this pond gave me a urinary tract infection but I don't care."

I miss having you at work with me - even though you hate it.

"You put me in the car and you bring me HERE? God, this is so f'ing boring."

I miss wrapping you in blankets after a bath.

"I hate a bath. I hate shivering. I kinda hate you for this."

I miss that you get in bed every night at 10 pm like clockwork.

"I'm sweepy."

I miss that you take up the whole bed.

Mine.

I miss how cuddly you are in the mornings.

Sweet.

I miss it when you beg.

"You are getting very sleepy. You have an urge to give your dog a piece of that prosciutto. No, that's a carrot. I said prosciutto."

I miss dressing you up.

You hate it.

I miss that you hate to sit before crossing the road.

"Its SO annoying that I have to do this."

I miss it that when I gain weight, you do too.

Less treaties for us!

I miss curling up on the couch with you after a long day.

Veg

I miss that your little personality hasn't changed since you were 5 weeks old.

"I am who I am. Love me."

I miss hearing your big SIGH when I sing to you. You hate it when I sing to you.

And I miss that same big SIGH when we're riding in the car and your window isn't down the way you like it - and you want me to know: "Dude, life is HARD - at LEAST roll this window down so I can stick my head out."

"I mean, Dude - REALLY. Roll it down."

And your wet little nose. I miss that too.

Happy Valentine's Day, little bunny bear.

And Happy Valentines Day, friends & family. From Australia - where we have the privilege of experiencing this day first - before the rest of you have to suffer through it.

:-)

Stephanie
